A Missing Hen, a Worried Sister and a Garden Full of Helpers

Bess is missing, Tess is frantic and Ernie has put on his superhero cape. Can Erik make sense of the commotion and find their feathered friend?

Full Product Description

One familiar cluck is missing from the morning chorus. Bess has disappeared, and her twin sister Tess is worried.

Mess the rooster immediately suspects a crime. Ernie reaches for a tea towel cape, ready to become a hero, although getting past the bins proves an early challenge. Erik thinks they might get further by keeping calm and looking carefully.

Soon the whole gang is searching. They check the vegetable patch, washing line and compost heap, with Fifi calling instructions and Lofty adding a few crash landings to the confusion. There are feathers and footprints, but where is Bess?

Erik and Ernie: Missing Bess brings gentle suspense and plenty of slapstick to a rhyming adventure about looking out for a friend. Young readers can follow the search while Erik considers an explanation that the noisier members of the rescue party have overlooked.

An affectionate, funny story to share with children who enjoy animal mysteries, enthusiastic helpers and a reassuring ending.
